The Immersive Artist Residency is an opportunity for artists/designers to engage with Science – both natural and social – and Technology faculty in state-of-the-art science labs (and Sustainability Learning Lab, a research-driven greenhouse) and abundant technology resources. Likewise, it will be an opportunity for Science and Technology faculty to engage with notable artists, designers, and other thought leaders. The Residency is project-based, determined by Art + Science Incubator founders, and designed as an open proposition in anticipation of unrestricted derived output.
A strong belief in Integrative Arts Education drives this vision. One of the principal missions of the University is to foster robust student engagement. As such, the residency would include cross-disciplinary student workshops on two days for 75 minutes each day. This serves to demonstrate to students at least the very basic contours of the value of integrated education.
During Immersion Residencies on the campus of Bellevue University, there are opportunities to meet with members of the wider cultural community of Omaha to explore robust, “heartland” approaches to the artist’s practice.
